PLK News 2/16: Why do we Whoosh?

Why do we "whoosh"?

You may hear our cheers and warcries in our race sites, how we raise the team spirit and morale with a PLK Whoosh. But do you know the significance of the whoosh?

whoosh
wʊʃ,wuːʃ/
verb
  1. 1.
move quickly or suddenly with a rushing sound.
    "a train whooshed by"
noun
  1. 1.
a sudden movement accompanied by a rushing sound.
"there was a big whoosh of air"
exclamation
  1. 1.
used to imitate sudden movement accompanied by a rushing sound.
"the starlings gather, then suddenly—whoosh!—flocks rise and swirl"

We aim to be a force, and take all races by storm. Hence, our whoosh signifies a powerful force, a combined strength, a concerted effort of like-minded paddlers, hungry to win, eager to learn, and most important, a good display of sportsmanship, esprit-de-corps and camaraderie in the team.
